Magnet Schools: How do parents and the community really feel?

Magnet schools use political power and social contacts to create advanced educational opportunities in the SC lowcountry. The African-American community seems unable to organize an effective response.

I dont believe that Magnet schools are instituted to carry out policies based on racial or identity politics. Through my experience, children, regardless of their race are excluded from such educational opportunities. Moreover, it is my assumption that magnet schools are better means of educating citizens, and it is our duty as citizens of this country to rally for a shift away from the No Child Left Behind act towards a more artistic centered education system.
